Our Story
In 1993,Felipe Torres Espino begain in the most humble of settings—a 12x16 porch in the backyard of his parents' home. With just $300, a few small tools, and no reputation, Felipe relied on hard work, creativity, and the support of friends and family, who became his first customers. Passion for woodworking quickly turned into a mission to craft high-quality, custom cabinetry. Long hours, dedication, and a relentless drive to perfect his craft led to steady growth, and within two years, His business had moved into a larger space, hiring six full-time employees. By 1998, the company became the first custom cabinet shop in the Rio Grande Valley to feature an in-house showroom, marking a turning point during the region’s construction boom
As demand grew, so did the company. By 2003, Felipe’s company had expanded into a 90,000-square-foot facility, employing over 100 craftsmen, making it the largest custom cabinet shop in South Texas. However, success came with challenges. A devastating fire destroyed the warehouse, equipment, and years of hard work, forcing Felipe to start over. Despite the setback, he refused to quit, securing a temporary shop to keep the business alive. Then, the 2008 recession struck, pushing him to downsize and rethink the company’s approach. Through resilience and a commitment to quality, Torres Espino The Craftsman re-emerged stronger, prioritizing craftsmanship, integrity, and customer satisfaction above all else.
Today, we operate from our own facility, continuing the tradition of excellence that started decades ago. We have had the privilege of working with the best builders, architects, and designers across South Texas, Central Texas, Arizona, and California. Our dedication to quality has earned us national recognition, including the 2024 CMA Best Of Award. We are proud to be affiliated with prestigious organizations in the cabinetry industry and remain committed to offering exceptional design, superior materials, and outstanding customer service. What started as a small operation has grown into a company known for craftsmanship, trust, and excellence—because at Torres Espino The Craftsman, every project is built with the same passion that started it all.
